If you want to send or receive funds from overseas, we have the solution for you.

Telegraphic Transfers

A telegraphic transfer also known as a “wire” is an electronic transfer of funds directly credited to a beneficiary’s overseas bank account. We can offer you the ability to transfer funds overseas quickly and securely through Western Union. You have the choice to send funds in more than 130 different currencies.

By transferring the funds using a telegraphic transfer, you can deposit funds to a nominated overseas bank account usually within 3 - 5 working days. Funds are deposited in the currency you specify and are immediately available for withdrawal.

In order to process your telegraphic transfer request, you must complete all sections of the form.  Here are some helpful tips:

  • You must enter full street addresses (PO Box addresses are not acceptable)
  • Payments to all European, and certain other countries require an International Bank Account Number (“IBAN”) – this may be obtained from the beneficiary
  • To comply with Australian Government regulations you must also provide the beneficiary’s full street address
  • No symbols can be used in the beneficiary name (e.g. “&”, “/” etc)
  • We are unable to send funds to certain countries – view list of countries.

To request a telegraphic transfer, simply complete the form and return to us by fax on 02 9237 6751 or email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

A special service fee applies for this service. Please refer to our fees and charges guide for more information.

Please note that telegraphic transfers are sent via a network of correspondent banks, which sometimes levy a small handling charge on your payment. Any such fees are totally out of Quay Credit Union’s and Western Union Business Solutions’ control. Given that a network of banks are used to complete your telegraphic transfer, the time it takes for your payment to be credited cannot be guaranteed.

International Draft

You can send them in the mail so they are ideal if you want to enclose the payment with a card, letter or invoice. Available in a wide range of currencies, drafts are also a good option if you don’t have the beneficiary’s bank account details.

In order to process your draft request, you must complete all sections of the form.  Here are some helpful tips:

  • You must enter full street addresses (PO Box addresses are not acceptable)
  • No symbols can be used in the beneficiary name (e.g. “&”, “/” etc)
  • We are unable to send funds to certain countries – view list of countries.
